First day of School 2012-2013

Marissa is a second grader who loves school and continues to read like crazy!  She had a forty book challenge at her school to read forty books this year.  She finished in February having read 40 books and 8,000 pages!  She was a little nervous to start a new school but she has made friends quickly and it didn't take long for her teacher to realize that she loves to learn and be a good student!
Devon started preschool this year and was excited that for part of his preschool he gets to feed animals and raise chicks.  He adores his teacher and I think the feeling is mutual!  This year Devon decided he was going to learn to read, and can read some of my old books from kindergarten!  Way to go Dev!

Coast of California

Right after we moved to California Ryan and I ditched the kids at Grandma and Grandpa's house we took off on our very first trip without any kids along since Marissa was born.  We started off by driving to San Diego and working our way back up the coast of Cali over the next 8 days.  Here are some highlights from our trip:

1. Being able to sleep in!! Although I think Ryan and I have slightly different definitions of "sleeping in" and on more than one morning Ryan would ask me if I was going to get up soon!  He's forgotten that this is one of my hidden talents:)!

2. Being able to eat several meals without worrying about damage control or what in the world I was going to feed Sawyer later because he did not eat his dinner!

3. Being able to go places without worrying about where the nearest potty was (although being 24 weeks pregnant we still made frequent potty breaks:)!

4. As we "relaxed" on the beach as we supposedly have done the past few summers with the kids on our beach vacations, this time it was truly "relaxing".

5. We knew our kids were in good hands with Grandma and Grandpa!

6. We started in Coronado for a night, then Laguna Beach, Santa Barabara, Cambria, Carmel, and finally ending in San Francisco.
